Business in Post-ISIS Mosul
Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve
Aug. 31, 2018 | 1:18
Interview with Norris Hatham Sideeq, owner of Sawa Café in Mosul, on life during the occupation of Mosul by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and life after its defeat. Iraqi forces pushed ISIS out of their last urban stronghold in Mosul – leading the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to declare 10 December a day of celebration – a new job began: the work of moving on. Across the city, volunteers began to clean streets, libraries and universities, while others have re-opened old businesses – to reinvigorate a city that had been suppressed under ISIS.
